ASH WEDNESDAY MASSES: (Blessing and distribution of ashes) Here at Assumption, Masses are Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 8:15 am and 7:00 pm. Ash Wednesday is a day of prayer, fast, and abstinence. Although the Church permits the penance of abstinence from meat on Fridays to be substituted by another act of penance (e.g. prayer for the poor or the believer), these substitutions may not be done on Ash Wednesday or Good Friday. NB: All Catholics 14 years and older are bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, and all Catholics age 18-59 are also to fast these days (i.e., one main meal and two small meals. NO snacks!).
LITURGY AND DEVOTIONS DURING LENT:
•Sunday Sung Vespers and Benediction at 4:00 pm
•Stations of the Cross Tuesdays at 6:45 pm, prior to 7:00 pm Mass, beginning March 15, 2011
•Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Mon.-Fri.,1-4 pm & Wed. 9-11 am as well
PARISH LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE
Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 7:00pm. Eight priests will be present to hear the confession of the faithful.
Holy Thursday – Mass: 7:00 pm
Good Friday – Stations of the Cross: 10:30 am, Passion of Our Lord: 12:00 noon, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm
