Port Coquitlam, B.C.
The Columbian Squires-Port Coquitlam Circle #2937 has been a part of Our Lady of the Assumption parish for more than 27 years. Since the early eighties the Squires Circle has provided opportunities for our young men to serve the Church and community.
The Columbian Squires is a leadership training program sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. The membership is made of Catholic young men from the ages of 11 to 18. The programming is arranged into four aspects: Spriritual Development, Circle Improvement, Service to the Church and community, and Membership Recruitment. The program is centered upon the motto “Esto Dignus”—Be Worthy.
Squires members are responsible for their own programming and activities, organized by their own board of elected officers.
The Port Coquitlam Circle is most visible in our monthly sharing of the coffee & doughnuts service and participates in the annual Fall Fair and Port Coquitlam’s Canada Day Celebrations. The Circle meets on the second and fourth Mondays of every month in the KoC Hall. Come and join us.
The Helena Rutten Squirettes of Mary is part of an organization sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council, which is for young Catholic girls between the ages of 12 and 18 years.
The purpose of Squirettes of Mary is six-fold; Spiritual (Bible studies, attending Mass together, praying the Rosary, etc.), Cultural (Canada and Multicultural Days), Civic (Canada Day and district celebrations), Service (assisting with Coffee and Doughnuts each month), Athletic (soccer tournaments, hiking, etc.), and Social (dances, game & movie nights, etc.).
This program brings young Catholics together to grow socially and spiritually while having fun, while serving their families, parish and community.
Please come and join us the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:00pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall!
“When the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, will bear witness to me; and you also are witnesses…I have said all this to you to keep you from falling away.” John 15, 16.
It is easy to stray from the path the Lord has made for each of us. But, even amidst our sin, His hand is always there to lead us back. What’s more, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit especially for this purpose!
With the grace and courage of the Holy Spirit, this parish group was formed so that young people could re-encounter the love of God anew, as adults in the Church. Through a community of fellowship, an atmosphere of support and discussion, and a heart of service, YES is devoted to the continuous reaffirmation of faith and love for the Lord.
We extend an invitation to all young people, who seek and yearn for a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to join us at our weekly meetings. For more information, please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org
